Let’s Talk Time Management
Why is it that some people seem like they have an infinite amount of time while others struggle with just getting the laundry put away?! I mean, Taylor Swift was able to release an album with like 1000 new songs with complex lyrics and seems like she can fit a ton into one day. While we may not be striving to be a performer like TS, we do have goals and aspirations. Being intentional with our time can help.
Time blocking can help with intentionality with that time. Identifying reasonable blocks of time (I’ve noticed it actually take me LONGER to do things then my head thinks!)
Check lists can help with keeping track of all the tasks that need to be completed. If you are an achiever make sure to put it all on there so you can check it off!
Setting deadlines can help by organizing your tasks, prioritize your schedule and avoid procrastination. We will discuss procrastination soon! There is so much we can discuss with that!
Eliminate interruptions by putting your phone/computer on focus mode, take off your smart watch, turn off the tv, etc. Set a timer and focus during the amount of time set. If you’re like me, I actually work best in areas that have things happening - like a coffee shop. For some of you, quiet is best. Find what works for you and create that space!
Focus on one thing at a time. I know, I know… “but I can multi-task!” Can you? It is shown that multitasking can have a negative impact on productivity. It can create mental blocks, missed details (creating more mistakes) etc. See what happens when you focus on one task at a time.
And my favorite - USE YOUR STRENGTHS! When we use our strengths, we are more productive. Think back on a time when you were super productive and enjoying what you were doing. You were probably coming from an area of strength for you and possibly in that “flow” state. If I had to take a guess, Taylor uses her strengths daily. Want to know more about your strengths? Let’s talk!!
So - ready? Let’s start managing our time well.
As always, Be Bold, Be Courageous, Be YOU!
